The Mahindra Thar is a compact, four-wheel drive, off-road Jeep CJ like SUV manufactured by Indian automaker Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. Mahindra has revealed that the second-gen Thar has already crossed over 9000 bookings so far despite test drive models being limited to only 18 cities. It has also garnered over 36,000 inquiries and more than 3.3 lakh website visitors so far. Deliveries are set to commence on November 1.
The next-gen Thar has priced from Rs 9.80 lakh to Rs 13.75 lakh. Bookings for the second-generation Thar are underway at a token amount of Rs 21,000. The off-roader has evolved in the way it looks, rides, and feels. In fact, the new-gen Thar could be a fun daily driver for you. It comes with two engine options, 2.0-litre petrol, and a 2.2-litre diesel. Both are offered with a choice of 6-speed automatic transmission (with a torque converter gearbox) or 6-speed manual transmission. Customers have the option to choose between a hardtop, soft top or soft top with a convertible like folding down mechanism. It will be available from 2 October 2020, and prices will be announced closer to that date.
