Maruti Suzuki has launched the BS6 Wagon R S-CNG in India. The LXI CNG and LXI (O) CNG variants now cost Rs 5.25 lakh and Rs 5.32 lakh respectively, up by Rs 19,000. Maruti claims a fuel economy of 32.52km per kg. The CNG Wagon R’s continuation in the BS6 era is part of the carmaker’s ‘Mission Green Million’ initiative announced at Auto Expo 2020.
Previously, the carmaker had updated the 1.0-liter powertrain to meet BS6 emission norms. It develops 68PS of power and 90Nm of torque, the same as the BS4 unit. However, the updated motor now returns 21.79 kmpl, which is a little less than the BS4 unit’s 22.5kmpl claimed to figure. Barring the CNG variants, the prices of the Wagon R 1.0-litre have been hiked by Rs 8,000.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R LXi 1.0 CNG is available in Manual transmission and offered in 6 colors: Poolside Blue, Nutmeg Brown, Magma Grey, Silky Silver, Autumn Orange, and Solid White.

Maruti Wagon R Review
The Maruti Wagon R has been among the top choices for buyers looking for a practical and utilitarian hatchback for over two decades. The tallboy boxy design of the previous generation Wagon R was a functional choice aimed at making it more practical than any other hatchback on sale. But as market trends, customer preferences, as well as safety and emission norms evolve, so has the WagonR. Naturally, we had to take the recently launched third-gen Wagon R 2019 out for a short spin to find out whether it has only built upon its core values of practicality or if it has become a tougher all-rounder to take on its fierce rivals.
While the new design isn’t striking, Maruti has made sure that it isn’t boring to look at the previous models. The design will eventually grow on you as it grew on us.
With the third-gen Wagon R, Maruti aims to play its practicality card once again. The carmaker has taken its game a rung higher with the new Wagon R. The increased footprint has even resulted in a spacious cabin and a humongous boot. On top of this, it’s also available with a more powerful engine.
That said, the new Wagon R isn’t perfect, especially when it comes to the rear seats. But it is better armored than ever and is ready to challenge its rivals that have been setting new benchmarks one after the other. And the marginal price hike has sweetened the deal further.
